DHEA, why it matters in a balanced hormonal environment.
DHEA, short for Dehydroepiandrosterone, is one of the most abundant steroid hormones produced by the human body and plays an important role in both neurological function and the overall hormonal environment. Although testosterone, estradiol, and DHT tend to receive most of the attention in hormone optimization, DHEA operates further upstream and influences multiple hormonal and neurological pathways. DHEA is often described as a master neurohormone because it functions not only as a circulating hormone but also as a neurosteroid within the brain. It also serves as an important precursor from which the body can produce other steroid hormones, including androgens and estrogens.
