HCG, is it essential for your protocol?
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, better known as HCG, plays an important role in maintaining healthy testicular function in men using Testosterone Replacement Therapy or performance-enhancing hormones. While testosterone is usually the primary focus of TRT, replacing testosterone alone does not replicate everything that occurs naturally within the male hormonal system.
Is Estrogen the enemy?
When it comes to men, estrogen, and more specifically estradiol, is one of the most misunderstood hormones. This is true whether we're discussing Testosterone Replacement Therapy or the use of performance-enhancing hormones. There is an enormous amount of "bro science" surrounding estradiol, much of which treats estrogen as something men should simply eliminate. But what is the real story behind this hormone?
What is DHT and why is it so important?
When it comes to male hormones, testosterone receives most of the attention. However, one of its most important metabolites, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), is frequently overlooked. DHT is the most androgenically potent naturally occurring sex hormone in the male body and is approximately five times more potent in its androgenic effects than testosterone.
Why does TRT fail so many men?
For many men, TRT provides significant improvements in energy, mood, body composition, cognitive function, libido, and overall quality of life. However, not everyone experiences these benefits. A considerable percentage of men discontinue therapy because they fail to achieve meaningful symptom relief or develop side effects they find unacceptable. Some estimates suggest that discontinuation rates may approach 40%. In addition, many men who remain on TRT continue to struggle with unresolved symptoms, including diminished libido, erectile dysfunction, and estrogen-related side effects.
